This year our vacation time was August and to avoid the crowded beaches in the south as well as the very hot temperatures, we decided for the northeast of Europe. Additional to this I was required to return my company car (that includes an European fuel card), so the destination fits quite well: 6 countries, 6 capitals, and more than 6.000 kilometers on the road. For sure this was neither a beach vacation nor a very relaxing stay, but we have seen plenty sights. To stay frank, each of these countries is worth more than a week, but there are always limitations. To avoid a big traffic jam at Saturday, we started on short notice on Friday and added Prague to our vacation destinations. Afterwards as planned we have reached Wrocław (a beautiful town) and Warsaw (quite expensive) in Poland before we shifted the focus to the Baltic States with Latvia, Estonia, and Lithuania. Swimming in the Baltic Sea is refreshing and will stay in our memories. Instead of visiting the Baltic Sea in Poland (too expensive and weather situation is volatile) we changes our plan and visited Krakow in the south of Poland which is an amazing town and this was not the first time I entered the town. Finally at the end there is really an end and we need to go home. But as the distance was slightly to long for a one day slot we added once more - yes you already imagine - Prague for a final stay. Afterwards the vacation was over, sad, but true. Stop, you might shout: there are only five states listed! Yes you are right, but after a few days I was driving on short notice to Bratislava in Slovakia. |
