  Personal information:
There's a saying that every country gets the government (leader) it deserves. Germany had Hitler, the USA had and has Trump, and Hungary has Viktor Orbán! An autocratic leader who has given his country the international reputation of being a "parasite." Please, just get out of the EU!

So, now to the country itself:

In 2011, I was in Vienna, Austria, and spent a night in Bratislava, from where I also visited Hungary, including the city of Győr.

Then, in 2013, I went to Budapest for several days, and the city is truly a dream: The Parliament building is situated on the Danube, the castle majestically overlooks the river, and the food is delicious in both Buda and Pest. The subway is very deep, and the escalators whiz up and down so smoothly that German escalators seem to move in slow motion. There are also some crazy, futuristic pubs and restaurants, and the funicular railway to Buda Castle is a must-do.

Since I was traveling by car, I was able to take a short trip to Lake Balaton, even though the swimming season hadn't officially started in May.

Once Orbán is gone or imprisoned, I'd love to come back again; until then, we'll have to be patient...
