  Official information:
Morocco is a country in northwest Africa, bordering both the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. It is separated from Europe only by the Strait of Gibraltar.

Its southern border is somewhat complex, as the status of Western Sahara is internationally disputed due to the Western Sahara conflict.

During the 20th century, Morocco was under French and Spanish protectorates at various times, but it has been independent since 1956 and has been a constitutional monarchy since 1992.

With an average elevation of 909 meters, Morocco ranks 37th in the world. Its lowest point is at -59 meters and its highest at 4,165 meters.

  Personal information:
The one week of autumn break was simply too short for an independent holiday, so in November 1998 we booked a one-week package tour with numerous excursions.

I was captivated by the land of brown hues: Tafraoute and the journey there, the impressive landscape of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, oases, elegant kasbahs, goats in the argan trees, Marrakech with its Djemaa el-Fba square (knowing full well that a few years later a terrorist attack would be carried out in the café where we were sitting) and the market, and Essaouira, the white city.

We didn't particularly enjoy Agadir, our main base for the trip.

If possible, I would love to visit Morocco again!
