  Official information:
The Netherlands is part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is located in northwestern Europe. Along with Belgium and Germany, the country borders the North Sea and has land below sea level.

Several Caribbean islands belong directly to the Netherlands, but three Caribbean territories (Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten) are independent countries and belong to the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg are, as the acronym suggests, the Benelux countries. The Netherlands is a founding member of the European Coal and Steel Community in 1951 and of the European Union (1992).

With an average elevation of 30 meters, the Netherlands ranks 162nd. The lowest point is -7 meters, and the highest is 322 meters. This only includes mainland Europe!

  Personal information:
When I was younger, in 1989 to be exact, I went to Amsterdam in the Netherlands (or as many in Germany mistakenly call it, Holland) for the first time. Then in 2001, I went on holiday to Edam and many other cities. After that, I returned to the Netherlands quite frequently for work, and in 2021, I took another holiday there.

The cities of Amsterdam and Rotterdam have a lovely vibe; I really enjoyed it there. Other cities are beautiful, too.

It always gives me a thrill when I drive below sea level there.

I don't see the much-vaunted animosity between Germany and the Netherlands! I met friendly people everywhere; even the police were nice when I drove down the wrong side of a one-way street from the hotel exit at 5 a.m.

I'd love to come back!
