Official information: Portugal is a European country located in the westernmost part of Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. It is home to the westernmost point of continental Europe. The country's borders are easily defined: the Atlantic Ocean to the south and west, and Spain to the east and north. The Azores and Madeira islands also belong to Portuguese territory. Portugal co-founded NATO (1949). It is a member of the OECD (1948), the United Nations (since 1955), the Council of Europe (since 1976), and the Schengen Agreement (since 1995). Personal information: After working with several Portuguese consultants on the project, I planned a visit to Lisbon. Interestingly, none of the consultants wanted to meet us; perhaps Portuguese hospitality differs from that of Germany, Spain, Romania, etc., where we were always welcome. What's the story? In early May, we wanted to escape the bad weather in Germany, but while the sun was shining in Germany with temperatures well over 20 degrees Celsius, it was raining and very cold in Lisbon... What did I enjoy? Definitely the port wine and the amazing fish and seafood dishes. And, a unique experience, Axel Rose as the lead singer of AC/DC in Lisbon. Brilliant! |
